Megaport allows you to connect to the Services you need, when you need them. This is done by deploying Virtual Cross Connects (VXCs). There are four different things you can connect to with VXCs, each providing access to a different type of service. VXC’s are explained further in this article , and a brief overview of connectivity options is listed below:
- Private VXCs – Connectivity between two locations for a single customer, traditionally called Data Centre Backhaul or Data Centre Interconnect. These can be used for functions such as core network backbone or connecting a production and Disaster Recovery DC.
- Megaport Marketplace – Connectivity between two different customers located in any of the Megaport POPs. This is mainly used to connect Service Providers to Enterprise customers, while removing the boundaries around physical location.
- Cloud Connectivity – Connectivity by Megaport to the top global Cloud providers. This includes connections to AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, as well as a continually expanding list of industry-leading CSPs.
- Internet Exchanges – Megaport owns and operates a series of local Internet peering exchanges in many of our markets globally. IXs provide greater efficiency between networks and allow for traffic to be exchanged directly, thereby reducing bandwidth usage on client’s Internet connections. Traditionally the domain of Internet Service Providers, more Enterprises are beginning to explore the use of this solution.
